WOODFORD WEEKLY NEWS

Friday 19 May 2023

Dear Matt DOUGLAS,

Course Conditions

After receiving over 60 mm of rain earlier this week, the course has rapidly regained its lush green appearance. Aaron and his team have been diligently working throughout the week to ensure its maintenance. The greens have returned to their absolute best condition and are rolling impeccably true. To prevent the emergence of any fungus during the cooler weather, fungicide was applied to the greens on Wednesday following the rain.

Furthermore, significant progress has been made on the right-hand greenside bunker of the 2nd hole, with ongoing work planned for the following week. In order to prevent erosion during heavy rain, substantial rocks have been strategically placed near the bridge at the 4th green. This not only serves a practical purpose but also enhances the aesthetic of the hole as golfers approach for their potential eagle!

Our team has also dedicated time to multiple garden beds this week, focusing particularly on the garden area between the 1st and 4th holes. The garden bed at the 2nd tee box has been fully planted, adding a delightful touch to the area. Similarly, the garden bed at the 10th tee has been skillfully planted and mulched, greatly enhancing the visual appeal as members and visitors walk into the club. Additionally, the garden bed at the 13th tee has been cleared and will soon be planted with native plants to complement the other revitalized garden beds found throughout the course.

We are very lucky to have a great team of green staff and i'm sure you will all agree the work they are doing is improving our course on a weekly basis.
